Happy New Year
Whenever I think of wishes for the new year, I think back to this store window in a little shop on the coast of Maine. This is what I wish for myself and for you, if you are game, in 2012.
May you find love, excitement, travel, destiny in 2012.
Happy New Year.

Weeds Never Looked so Good
As much as I lament the loss of summer
this time of year always offers up some unusual
finds for photography. Weed Amazon seeds are
some of my favorite subjects. The pods, I think
look much nicer than the plants.
What are these things populating my yard?

Last Rose of the Year (I think)
If there is one thing I have been lucky with, it is roses. Crab Meadow must have the right combo of light, water and soil because roses here are strong, steady and beautiful.
I've purchased the most inconspicuous rose, the cheapest of the cheap, the forgotten in the back row of Home Depot variety, and they thrive. This little bud is from just such a plant. It is a rambler and has taken over the side garden with flower and thorn.
I think this is the last flower of the season...it has survived the October snow and the early December frost. Who knows, maybe it will throw out one more for Christmas....maybe....
I will keep you posted...
